Candy is a world-famous Italian home appliance manufacturer. We worked on the localization of the company's websites and supported its digital projects.

The main task set by the client was to create, support, and promote the Russian Candy website. From 2002 to 2008, we created three versions of the website and a whole group of microsites.

Already in the first version, we formulated the strategy of staying one step ahead. While preserving the style and recognizability of Italian design, we immediately introduced services that improved the user experience:

  • product specification comparison
  • a notebook for selected products
  • detailed technology descriptions
  • product image galleries
  • Where to Buy and Service sections

A special feature of this project was the ASP/Oracle backend platform and hosting in the corporate data center.

Later, as the website evolved, we created:

  • a press center
  • a closed section for the press
  • product registration for warranty service

Most of this functionality appeared on the latest version of the Italian website only several years after the Russian version.

The first responsive website

The Candy website was probably the first website to use the concept of responsive design. We created and used Smart Site technology, which made it possible to:

  • detect the user's screen resolution
  • estimate the speed of the internet connection

For example, dial-up users were shown lighter images, while on wide screens we expanded the website grid and increased font and image sizes.

Candy & Fiat

Candy raffled a Fiat 500 among buyers of the Candy GrandO' washing machine. Our task was to register participants on the company website and run the prize draw to determine the winner.
